L'Horta
L'Horta de València is the greatest garden of Europe.
As Toni likes to say, the Huerta of Valencia is the great garden of Europe. Since the Romans founded the original Valentia, the lands irrigated by the Turia River have been a fertile area where different peoples and cultures have lived in harmony with the environment. The Huerta of Valencia is a unique ethnological and environmental treasure that has served for centuries as a provider of resources and a recycling center for the city. More than a thousand years ago, the Arabs created the system of irrigation channels, which is still preserved today and is managed by the oldest functioning court in the world, the Tribunal de las Aguas (Water Court).
The 'Collaret' (necklace) Peanut
In Valencia, the 'esmorzar' is always accompanied by a plate of cacahuetes del collaret, a local variety with a long tradition. Toni shows how this native variety is cultivated.
Pumpkin and Okra
Pumpkin and okra are two key ingredients in the cuisine of La Barraca Toni Montoliu, and in this video, you can see the process before they reach the oven or the pot.
Farming the Traditional Way
Working the land with animals has been done for thousands of years. Today, only a few can demonstrate this technique to share it with the world. This is living history of the Huerta.
